We’re very excited to be in Phoenix this week attending a Professional Photographers of America conference. The first thing people say when they land in Phoenix is “wow, it really is 114 degrees here.” And the second thing they say, without fail, is “but it’s a dry heat”. That second statement is meant, I suppose, to reassure themselves that they’re not going to expire the second they walk outside.
Ironically the Hyatt Hotel keeps the conference rooms air-conditioned to 62 degrees and it can get downright chilly. It feels great to walk outside during the breaks to soak up the blazing sun. The PPA Business Conference is always fantastic from a learning perspective, but we especially enjoy meeting other photographers and hobnobbing with industry leaders like Ann Monteith from PPA and Bill Camacho from Marathon Press.
Ann is the past President of PPA and she’s a riot. We love hanging out with her. Last night at dinner she had us in hysterics talking about the new family dog, Clementine the Labradoodle, and Clemmy’s troubles adjusting to life in rural Pennsylvania. And how Ann had to buy $500 worth of stuff at Wal-Mart when the airline lost her luggage before a speaking engagement. (We won’t reveal the name of the airline, but it rhymes with Delta).
Tonight we’re having sushi at Sapporo Restaurant in Scottsdale! Also joining us are new friends Dana and Regina.
