This wedding was extra special. My lovely sister Michele got married in Las Vegas this past weekend. It’s not often you can be the professional photographer at your own sister’s wedding! We met up in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Hotel for the festivities. Friends and family flew in from all over the United States– New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boise. We managed to squeeze in a couple of shows too: Cirque du Soleil’s “Ka”, and “La Reve” at the new Wynn hotel.
It was sunny and blazing hot– 108 degrees– but thankfully the ceremony was indoors at The Tropicana Wedding Chapel. It wasn’t an Elvis-style wedding, though I admit that would have been very entertaining. And the reception was a blast! Nothing stuffy about my sister’s reception. Michele and Fernando chose a Mexico-themed party and the innovation was refreshing and really fun.
They gave the wedding party real sombreros as gifts, which was a very nice touch. Soon the sombreros were making their way around the room, with everyone wanting to give the big hats a try. They were very popular, especially when the DJ played “Tequila” by The Champs.
You can probably spot me in some of the pictures– I’m the tall guy with the glasses.
